FUTURE MAYOR OF THE LIVE
MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Austin can’t be the Live Music Capital of the World if the musicians who built that reputation can no longer afford to live and create here.
As Mayor, I will fight to dramatically expand direct investment in local musicians, independent venues, promoters, and creative spaces, building on successful programs like the Austin Live Music Fund.
I will also demand far greater scrutiny of city partnerships that benefit massive corporate entertainment interests while independent artists and venues struggle to survive.
The Live Music Capital should belong to the people who make the music, not the corporations buying it up.
Political campaigns raise insane amounts of money, and that creates serious ethical concerns. I don’t trust a political system where candidates are handed piles of cash based on what donors hope they might do once in office. Even when everything is perfectly legal, I think it’s a terrible foundation for representative government.
This campaign takes no donations. I fund this campaign by selling music, shirts, stickers, art, and other things we make ourselves. No PACs, no corporate money, no wealthy donors buying access or influence. If elected, the only people I owe anything to are the people of Austin.
Public school students deserve well-funded creative, technical, STEM, and career-building electives that prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
Every student should have access to individualized nutritional support and qualified nutrition professionals, while Texas schools should source food from Texas farmers wherever practical, keeping public dollars circulating in Texas communities.
Public education should set every student up for success by fostering critical thinking, practical skills, creativity, and the ability to adapt to a changing world.
Austin shouldn’t be a testing ground, customer, or partner of the surveillance state or the military-industrial complex.
As Mayor, I will conduct a comprehensive review of City contracts, investments, partnerships, data-sharing agreements, and procurement involving companies tied to mass surveillance and the military-industrial complex, and work to terminate or restrict those relationships wherever the law and City authority allow. I will also fight new surveillance infrastructure and close loopholes that allow Austin to access surveillance systems we have already chosen not to operate ourselves.
Our tax dollars should build a safer Austin, not help build the machinery of war and mass surveillance.
Texas should legalize marijuana. Until it does, I will use every lawful power available to me as Mayor of Austin to make sure our city is not wasting police resources, taxpayer money, or people’s futures punishing adults for possessing a plant.
Austin cannot rewrite Texas law, but we can make our priorities clear, defend the will of Austin voters, and demand change from the Legislature.
Stop wasting our time. Stop wasting our money. Legalize marijuana.
Billionaire wealth is built on the labor of thousands, public infrastructure, and an economy that allows one person to capture an extraordinary share of what all of them produced together. I will do everything in my power as Mayor of Austin to make sure these tyrants receive no funding or special treatment from the city, and ensure we do more to support local small businesses.
No more kings, no more dynastic corporate empires, no more billionaires!
